Thousands of people are evacuating amid the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, with many leaving in just their socks and pajamas. The fire, fueled by strong winds, rapidly spread to over 3,000 acres, forcing more than 30,000 people to flee. Evacuations were complicated by heavy traffic, and firefighting planes were grounded due to winds up to 80 mph.
The fire is expected to worsen, with concerns of other fires igniting across the state. An elderly care facility in Pasadena evacuated 95 patients, some of whom were seen in a parking lot without shoes. Governor Gavin Newsom warned that more fires could occur, and fire personnel were stationed in high-risk areas. Conditions remain dangerous, with dry vegetation and high winds increasing fire risk throughout the week. Volunteers and first responders continue to work tirelessly, but the situation is far from over.
